Where comfort meets confidence, miracles begin.
What is a Birth Doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to their client before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
Why Choose a Birth Doula?

Birth Plan Development
Create a tailored birth plan by providing evidence based information, exploring your preferences, and ensuring your goals are clearly communicated to your care team.
Advocacy
Ensure your preferences and values are clearly communicated to your care team, empowering you to make informed decisions and feel supported throughout the birth process.
Partner Support
Guide partners by suggesting effective comfort measures, fostering confidence, and ensuring they feel involved and connected throughout the birthing process.

Emotional & Physical Support
A birth doula offers emotional support by creating a safe, reassuring environment and helping you stay calm and focused during labor. Physical support is provided through comfort measures like massage, breathing techniques, and positional guidance to help ease pain and facilitate labor progress.
Better Birth Outcomes
Improve birth outcomes by offering continuous support, reducing stress, and promoting evidence-based practices, which can lead to shorter labor, fewer interventions, and greater satisfaction. Statistics show that having a doula reduces c-section rates, leads to shorter labor times, lowers the need for interventions, and improves maternal satisfaction.

Meet your Doula
Lauren Stanphill
Are you feeling excited to meet your little one, but anxious about labor and unsure what to expect? Do you find yourself spending hours getting lost down internet rabbit holes researching pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, but still lack confidence as your due date approaches? Trust me, I’ve been there!
My journey to becoming a birth doula was born from my own experience with childbirth. In 2022, while living abroad, I gave birth to my son far from family and without much of a support system. I found myself scared and overwhelmed by the intensity of labor, longing for someone to guide and reassure me. That experience opened my eyes to the vital role emotional and physical support plays in childbirth, and it’s why I’m here—to offer the same kind of guidance and reassurance I longed for during my labor so you can enter those fragile early-postpartum days feeling calm, empowered, and supported.
I share a life filled with joy in Northern Virginia with my husband and our two children, who are the center of my heart and universe. Family is everything to me, and it’s because of them that I’m so passionate about helping others navigate the journey of birth. My life has taken me to many places, including three years spent living in Germany and eight months deployed to Afghanistan. These experiences taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of staying calm and grounded, especially in times of uncertainty – and I bring these lessons into my work as a doula.
As your doula, my goal is to help you feel confident, empowered, and supported every step of the way. Whether you’re preparing for a hospital birth, home birth, or birth center, I will provide personalized, nurturing support that aligns with your goals. I’m here to help you navigate the unknowns and trust in your body’s ability to bring your baby into the world with strength and love.
Motherhood is an indescribable gift, and I look forward to working together to nurture a birth experience that honors you, your choices, and your incredible journey.
What To Expect Working With Me
Prenatal Visits: Pregnancy brings joy and excitement, but also fear and anxiety – and that is normal! During our prenatal visits, I will listen intently as you describe the birth experience you desire, and educate you on your options and ways to achieve those goals. We will log these preferences in a birth plan you feel comfortable with, and discuss how to communicate these preferences during labor and delivery. We will discuss comfort measures so you can breathe through the contractions that bring you one step closer to meeting your little one!â
â
Labor and Delivery: Childbirth can feel like an overwhelming whirlwind of emotions - but what if you could transform that anxiety into confidence, knowing you have a calm, experienced advocate by your side? As your doula, I will support you and your partner every step of the way—offering hands-on comfort, emotional reassurance, and guidance in every moment. You only give birth a limited number of times in your life, so you deserve a doula to help your dream birth become a reality!
Postpartum Visit: The weeks following birth can feel like a blur. At your postpartum visit, we’ll create space to slow down and reflect. Together, we’ll revisit your birth story, celebrate your strength, and gently unpack any lingering emotions or questions. I’ll help you find peace in your experience, while also providing practical guidance and resources for newborn care, healing, and self-care. By the time I leave, you’ll feel more grounded, confident, and supported as you step into this beautiful new chapter of motherhood.
